Workshop: Making Interactive Music Apps for iPhones & iPads

This workshop is sold out.

What are we going to do?

As many award-winning music apps have shown, iOS, the cutting-edge mobile operating system that powers iPhones, iPods, and iPads, has great potential for making creative apps. This course will go through introductory concepts and techniques involved in the design and building of creative music apps for iOS.

The course will guide you through the initial design stages of an audio processing app, and will then introduce you to a powerful music-making toolkit for iOS. The course will then guide you through the steps required to make an iPhone play beautiful mandolin sounds, and then show you how to implement Gesture Recognizers to easily control the instrument. By the end you will have a fully-working handheld mandolin, as well as the knowledge and the code needed to start building a beta version of the app.

Date: 22nd May 2012, 7pm-9.30pm at SPACE, Hackney, London.

Workshop: Projection Mapping in Processing

*Sold Out*

Why limit yourself to projecting on a flat, rectangular screen when you can project on anything? Projection-mapping is the ninja technique of cutting up visual moving imagery and projecting it onto interesting surfaces, like trees, buildings, sculptures, and even white cats. In this hands-on workshop you will create your own sculpture and create your own projection-mapped performance.

Working with digital projectors, computers, and creative coding environment Processing and open source projection-mapping tools you will create your own sculptural projection-mapped experience. We will provide the hardware and tools you need. We will use free and open source tools such as Processing, toxiclibs (and potentially Kinect and OpenNI). Food and drink provided. Assemble your own team, or come and meet some creative people and make something fun.

This workshop is in collaboration with Openlab Workshops
